This 4th generation, family-run wine estate and mixed farm located on the eastern edge of the Bordeaux. The château was built around 1880, featuring a large winery and a stone press and its name dates back to the Middle Ages when wood charcoal was produced on the site. For decades following the 1930s depression, the estate's grapes were sold to a local wine cooperative and then in the early '90s, the family pulled out of the cooperative to make wine on the property again. They restored the old winery, installed stainless-steel vats, and brought in new barrels for the first time in 50 years. Brothers Pierre (the winemaker) and Hugo Franc de Ferrière (handling the business). now manage roughly 56 acres of organic vineyards alongside cattle farming. Le Nouveau Souffle ('the new breath') is a clairet - a traditional Bordeaux clairet style of dark, refreshing rosé or light red wine - representing a modern, fresh, and approachable take on historic regional styles, focused on bright red fruit like cherry juice, strawberry, and red currant.
