Margherita Otto is a relatively new winery located in Monforte d'Alba founded by American Alan Manley who gained his experience at the Bartolo Mascarello estate - one of our faves - which is clearly where he was influenced by the less common practice of blending parcels from different vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. He named the estate for his grandparents. This is a sweet fortified wine crafted from 100% Nebbiolo grapes. It's red-fruit driven with prominent spice notes like cinnamon and clove, layered over undertones of licorice, dark wood, and nutmeg. Think of it like an elevated vermouth and serve as a digestivo, an aperitivo, or paired with desserts. Only 2,000 bottles (< 170 cases) produced!
