jochen beurer is a former bmx champion turned visionary enologist who founded this estate in 1997, transitioning the generational family business of selling grapes into a pioneering winery. jochen transitioned from a competitive european bmx career into enology studies at weinsberg and time with one of our all-time faves, natural winemaking icon elisabetta foradori. he now works alongside his son adrian, championing biodiversity and minimal intervention, and jochen is a pivotal figure who has guided and mentored a whole generation of young german natural winemakers. this field blend of mostly trollinger (aka schiava) accented with zweigelt, spätburgunder (aka pinot noir), and portugieser is affectionately described as 'biodynamic gatorade' due to its thirst-quenching minerality. it's light-bodied, bone-dry (trocken), and deeply refreshing with zippy acidity and brimming with crushed red berry and grapefruit notes underlined by a distinct, salty, stony mineral finish.

in 2004, four local vine growers founded tenuta san francesco to preserve the long-standing viticultural tradition of campania's amalfi coast. their winery is set in an 18th-century estate among the hillsides. it’s cooler here than in many other places in campania with frequent maritime winds that act as a natural force against vine diseases and pests. the estate consists of 14 hectares of organically farmed vines planted to old pre-phylloxera vines situated on steep sloped terraced lands between 200 and 600 meters above sea-level. this is an elegant, refreshing red blend of primarily aglianico, with tintore, and piedirosso featuring vibrant notes of wild strawberries and raspberries and a crisp, mineral finish.

the name ixsir derives from ‘iksir’, the original arabic word for ‘elixir’, a word common to many languages that defines the purest form of all substances - a secret potion that grants eternal youth and love. ixsir is the fruition of a partnership between friends who share the same passion for wine, lebanon, and the dream of associating the name of a prominent wine to their fatherland and to reveal the best terroirs of lebanon, some long since forgotten. the partners of the vineyard include former bordeaux and lebanese winemakers including the renowned winemaker gabriel rivero (ex-château sociando-mallet) and a luxury consultant in the person of hubert de boüard, co-owner of the famous château angélus, grand cru classé a of saint-emilion. cultivated with respect to sustainable agriculture, ixsir’s vineyards are spread across the mountains of lebanon on clay-calcareous and limestone soil, from batroun to jezzine, benefiting from microclimates that are unique to lebanon. ixsir’s vineyards culminate at an altitude of 1,800 metres, making them the highest in the northern hemisphere. carefully handcrafted by ixsir’s winemaker, the wines reflect the purity and freshness of the lebanese mountains through richness, elegance and complexity. ixsir has been recognized several times for its green credentials - named by cnn as one of the greenest building in the world, winner of the international architizer a+ award, the good green design award and the green mind mena award. this blend of syrah, old vine cinsault, and mourvèdre is fresh and generous with red berry and stone fruit flavors and undertones of exotic white fruits and melon.

this storied domaine is run with passion and skill by luc and lucienne cartier, and their daughter eve who have been been farming and making wine organically for decades. their gorgeous property in the beautiful countryside appellation of les baux de provence yields powerful expressions of grenache, syrah, mourvedre, carignan, and more – not to mention olives (their oil is one of france’s finest), and incredible fruit and vegetables. their wines combine the richness and intensity of top rhone or bordeaux with an unmistakable expression of provençal soil. this rose is made from organic grenache, cabernet sauvignon and cinsault grapes - it's silky and medium-bodied with flavors of cherry and pomegranate fruit, floral notes and light spice.
